Most pilgrims first glimpse of Santiago is from Mont Gosso where the status of two grateful pilgrims point to the spires of the cathedral. For me it was my final view of Santiago on a wild and wet afternoon in a hail storm.
The was something apocalyptic about the sky and the weather that added to my departure eastwards. I’d had an afternoon of drama trying to find a bike shop open to fix new brake pads. It was the tourist board who helped me by directing me to the superstore on the out of town shopping centre.
Finally fixed, I was on my way and found the departure rather special.
It led to a brother Martin moment…..
